Abstract

Resesi menjadi suatu hal yang sedang ramai diperbincangkan belakangan ini. Banyak pakar ekonomi dan keuangan yang memperkirakan resesi akan terjadi pada tahun 2023 mendatang. Namun sebelumnya, apakah resesi itu? Sebenarnya tidak ada definisi resmi mengenai resesi, tetapi terdapat pengakuan umum yang menyebutkan bahwa resesi mengacu pada periode penurunan aktivitas ekonomi. Beberapa analis juga menyebutkan bahwa resesi merupakan penurunan dua kuartal berturut-turut dalam produk domestik bruto suatu negara. The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) mendefinisikan resesi sebagai penurunan signifikan dalam aktivitas ekonomi yang tersebar di seluruh sektor perekonomian yang berlangsung lebih dari beberapa bulan. Resesi dimulai ketika ekonomi mencapai puncak aktivitas dan berakhir ketika ekonomi mencapai titik terendahnya.
