MOOCs giữa ngã ba đường. RPE Discussion 02-2018

Abstract

Khái niệm MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses – Các khóa học đại trà mở trực tuyến) xuất hiện lần đầu năm 2008, và lên đến đỉnh điểm thu hút sự quan tâm của công luận bốn năm sau đó, đến mức tạp chí New York Times gọi năm 2012 là “năm của MOOCs”. Cũng trong năm đó, nhiều người thậm chí so sánh MOOCs với những phát minh lớn của loài người trước kia như việc tìm ra lửa hay sự ra đời của Internet. Hai năm sau “đỉnh cao”, MOOCs vẫn phát triển nhưng không bùng nổ đúng như kỳ vọng trước đó. Tại sao vậy? MOOCs vẫn còn rất nhiều cơ hội trước mắt để phát triển; tuy vậy, MOOCs sẽ tiến xa trong tương lai hay không (tương ứng độ dốc của giai đoạn bốn là cao hay thấp); MOOCs sẽ phát triển thành gì: OOCs (ngụ ý không thể phát triển đại trà và bỏ mất chữ M-massive), hay thành MOCs (ngụ ý không còn open – miễn phí) hay thành MoOCs (chữ o viết thường thay vì viết hoa – ngụ ý không phải miễn phí toàn bộ) – điều này phụ thuộc rất nhiều vào lựa chọn và nỗ lực của những người làm MOOCs hôm nay.
