Abstract

Perubahan dunia yang begitu cepat telah memaksa produsen dan para penjual berpikir keras agar tetap eksis di dunianya. Perubahan ini disebabkan oleh pesatnya pertumbuhan dan perkembangan teknologi, baik teknologi mesin maupun alas-alas berat, terlebih lagi teknologi telekomunikasi. Perkembangan teknologi mesin dari manual sampai mesin yang serba otomatis telah mampu mengubah mutu atau kualitas produk, mulai dari kemasan sampai pada isinya yang semakin menarik dan kompetitif. Perusahaan (pengusaha) harus pandai membaca keinginan dan kebutuhan konsumennya melalui berbagai cara, misalnya dengan melakukan riset pemasaran. Tanpa riset pemasaran yang andal pengusaha tidak dapat mengetahui keinginan dan kebutuhan pelanggannya secara tepat. Balikan, bukan tidak mungkin pengusaha akan ketinggalan informasi dibandingkan dengan persaingan.
