Abstract

The flow of urbanization in big cities continues to increase, this is certainly not only affecting the socioeconomic but also affecting socio-cultural changes, especially in the slums. urbanization not only consists of one culture but consists of various types of culture this will affect cultural diversity in areas with high levels of urbanization. Therefore, this study aims to determine the socio-cultural conditions of people in slums due to urbanization in the city of Palembang. The method used is a qualitative method by collecting data through surveys and interviews. Data analysis was performed using data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing / verification. the results of the study found that the social and cultural conditions of the people in the slums due to urbanization experienced changes in lifestyle aspects that began to be modern because of the many cultures outside, kinship between communities began to fade because of the high activity of people in the citiesbig, relationships especially teenagers who often disrespect older people, the current social habits of society have turned commercial.
