Abstract

Kabupaten Pasuruan memiliki 12 distrik, yaitu: Kraton, Kota, Rejoso, Winongan, Keboncandi, Jati, Grati, Mlaten, Gemping, Ngempit, Tengger dan Wangkal. Bangil memiliki 3 distrik, yaitu: Gempol, Pandaan dan Kotta. Serta Malang memiliki 6 distrik, yaitu: Kotta, Pakis, Gondanglegi, Penanggungan, Karangloo dan Ngantang. Pasuruan memiliki pantai yang indah dan memiliki banyak sungai. Cuaca di Pasuruan dipengaruhi oleh angin Muson Barat dan Muson Timur. Pasuruan saat itu sangat terkenal sebagai kota penghasil gula. Terdapat dua pabrik gula besar di Pasuruan, yaitu milik Tuan C. Vos dan milik Han Kikko, di samping pabrik gula yang lebih kecil lainnya. Perdagangan saat itu dilakukan dengan sistem barter dan uang. Industri perdagangan pun sudah maju saat itu. Kehidupan penduduk Pasuruan secara umum adalah bercocok tanam. Para penduduk sangat rajin, sehingga tidak heran hampir semua distrik dapat menghasilkan beras dikarenakan sawah merupakan lahan pertama yang banyak digarap oleh penduduk. Di samping itu, penduduk juga menanam tanaman lainnya seperti kayu, buah-buahan, dan kembang yang daftarnya dapat dibaca pada terbitan ini. Peninggalan sejarah dan purbakala banyak ditemukan di keresidenan ini, yang diduga merupakan peninggalan kerajaan Singosari. Juga terdapat patung Brahmana dan beberapa patung lainnya di daerah ini.
