Hubungan Pemerintah Dengan Gerakan Koperasi

Abstract

Di Indonesia koperasi mulai diperkenalkan oleh Patih R. Aria Wiria Atmaja pada tahun 1896 dengan melihat banyaknya para pegawai negeri yang tersiksa dan menderita akibat bunga yang terlalu tinggi dari rentenir yang memberikan pinjaman uang. Dalam Kongres Koperasi Indonesia di Bandung, Mohammad Hatta diangkat sebagai Bapak Koperasi Indonesia. Gerakan koperasi digagas oleh Robert Owen (1771-1858), yang menerapkannya pertama kali pada usaha pemintalan kapas di New Lanark, Skotlandia. Gerakan koperasi ini dikembangkan lebih lanjut oleh William King (1786–1865) – dengan mendirikan toko koperasi di Brighton, Inggris. Pada 1 Mei 1828.
