Dinamika Populasi dan Strategi Pengembangan Usaha Ternak Sapi Penerima Bantuan di Kabupaten Muna

Abstract

Pembangunan sektor peternakan diprioritaskan untuk meningkatkan produksi daging dan populasi ternak guna mencapai swasembada daging asal ternak agar meningkatkan taraf hidup petani peternak. Penelitian bertujuan mengkaji secara konferehensif dinamika populasi dan strategi pengembangan ternak sapi potong di Kabupaten Muna yang dimulai pada bulan Januari-Agustus 2022 dengan penentuan lokasi secara purposive sampling. Populasi penelitian adalah kelompok peternak sapi penerima bantuan yang dilakukan secara sensus kepadakelompok peternak sebanyak 8 kelompok menggunakan bantuan quisioner yang selanjutnya dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan dinamika populasi ternak rata-rata 9 ekor/tahun yang didukung dengan peningkatan luas lahan dan bertambahnya jumlah kandang namun permasalahan yang dihadapi yakni usaha hanya dijadikan sebagai usaha sambilan, sistem kelembagaan belum optimal, dan sistem pemeliharaan ternak ekstensif. Faktor pendukung pengembangan usaha yaitu semakin meningkatnya harga dan kebutuhan akan daging sapi dan lahan pengembangan terrnak. Strategi pengembangan usaha dapat dilakukan melalui pembinaan manajemen usaha, mengarahkan usaha yang berorientasi pasar, perlunya peningkatan peran dan kinerja penyuluh, pemanfaatan sumber daya lahan, dan pengembangan hijauan pakan ternak
