Abstract

Pemerintah daerah telah menetapkan rumput laut sebagai salah satu komoditi unggulan, lewat Dinas Perikanan dan Kelautan, pemerintah daerah memberikan bantuan dan modal bagi para petani lokal pada Desa-Desa (ohoi) yang telah ditetapkan sebagai daerah potensi budidaya rumput laut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat trend dan faktor-faktor yang menghambat perkembangan budidaya rumput laut di Kabupaten Maluku Tenggara. Obyek dari penelitian adalah Desa-Desa yang telah ditetapkan sebagai daerah potensi pengembangan rumput laut, dengan menggunakan data primer dan sekunder dari tim monitoring rumput laut BAPPEDA Maluku Tenggara 2012-2014, penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa, terlihat adanya penurunan tren dalam kegiatan budidaya rumput laut yang terjadi sejak tahun 2012 hingga 2014, yang disebabkan oleh empat factor utama yaitu, hama dan penyakit, bibit yang kurang berkualitas, harga jual yang rendah dan penyalahgunaan bantuan yang diterima.
