Un départ dans la vie inégal : Comment va la vie pour les enfants désavantagés ?

Abstract

Cette synthèse examine le bien-être des enfants issus de milieux socio-économiquement défavorisés par rapport à leurs pairs plus aisés. Il montre que les enfants issus de milieux défavorisés sont plus susceptibles d'avoir des résultats matériels médiocres, une mauvaise santé et une moins bonne éducation, ainsi que des résultats sociaux et émotionnels moins bons. Ces inégalités en matière de bien-être précoce sont enracinées dans les environnements plus défavorables auxquels sont confrontés les enfants défavorisés, ce qui rend les inégalités sociales en matière de bien-être de l'enfant particulièrement difficiles à combattre. Il est nécessaire d'apporter un soutien cohérent dans tous les domaines pour relever ces défis et améliorer les expériences de vie et les résultats des enfants défavorisés.
