Les dynamiques de croissance régionale : Flandre et Wallonie font jeu égal. Que cachent ces observations ?

Abstract

Quelles sont les performances de croissance de lÕéconomie marchande dans le nord et le sud de la Belgique? Observe-t-on un écart entre les deux régions? Comment peut-on lÕexpliquer ? De 2003 à 2008, il ressort des dernières statistiques officielles régionales que la Wallonie a fait jeu égal avec la Flandre en termes de croissance pour lÕensemble des secteurs secondaire et tertiaire marchands. Ce constat résulte toutefois de performances contrastées au sein des secteurs industriel et des services marchands. La Wallonie enregistre une croissance industrielle plus marquée quÕen Flandre, alors que la Flandre est davantage plus performante dans le secteur des services marchands dont le poids dans lÕéconomie est plus élevé. Bien que ces résultats soient observés pour la période antérieure à la crise économique, ils semblent se confirmer ensuite si on en croit les premières indications statistiques postérieures à 2008.
