La Deflation au Canada et le Comportement des Salaires

Abstract

Dans Cet Article, Nous Examinons le Processus de Ralentissement de la Croissance Salariale Survenu au Canada au Moment de la Grande Recession de 1982. Nous Examinons Si L'experience de la Recession A, En Modifiant les Anticipations Inflationnistes des Agents Economiques, Change la Structure de la Courbe de Phillips Ou Encore Deplace Celle-Ci Vers le Bas. Nous Rappelons D'abord L'ampleur de L'ajustement de L'emploi Qui a Ete Necessaire Pour Obtenir une Deceleration de la Croissance Salariale. Puis, Nous Specifions une Equation Salariale de Type Phillips Ou Intervient une Variation de la Norme Salariale D'okun-Perry. Nous Proposons une Autre Specification Ou Est Consideree une Variation des Coefficients du Chomage et de L'inflation. les Resultats Soutiennent L'hypothese D'un Deplacement Vers le Bas de la Courbe de Phillips Depuis le Creux de la Recession En 1982. Mais les Resultats Ne Sont Pas Aussi Incompatibles Avec une Modification de la Structure de la Courbe de Phillips. Enfin, une Simulation a L'aide de L'equation Permet de Montrer le Role Majeur de L'ajustement En Baisse de L'emploi Dans le Processus de Deceleration de la Croissance Salariale. Enfin, au Plan de la Politique Economique, les Resultats Empiriques Disponibles Ne Nous Permettent Pas de Conclure Qu'un Controle des Prix et Salaires, En 1981-1982, Aurait Ete Souhaitable Pour Modifier a Plus Long Terme les Attentes Inflationnistes au Canada.
