Furniture distribution in Sweden

Author

Abstract

Among Western Europe, Sweden is the seventh biggest country, providing about 4% of WE demand and its per capita furniture consumption is much higher than the European average. The Swedish furniture market is open to imports. Poland and Lithuania are among the main suppliers. In Sweden builders’ merchants have traditionally played a very influential role in furniture sales. Within the specialist channel, the large scale distribution has recorded the best growth performance over the years. The leading players such as Ikea, Mio, Jysk have implemented expansion strategies, through new openings. The report provides trends in home furniture consumption, analysis of the furniture distribution system by channel, retail formats and sales performances of top retailing companies operating in Sweden.
