Abstract

This study relates to identify the determinants of the households monetary welfare in Low Kabylie through the econometric estimate of the logarithm of the expenditure per capita. The incidence of poverty in Low Kabylie accounts for 2,4 % for food poverty and 15 % for total poverty. The analysis of the poverty profile in its various components (incidence, intensity and inequality) as well as the contribution of the various socio-economic groups emphasizes the importance of poverty in the rural areas and its prevalence in the households with high size and whose household heads are slightly informed, unemployed or workers. The Analysis of the determinants of the well-being enriches comprehension of poverty. It proposes a significant influence played by the area of residence, the size of the household, the possession of equipments, and the share of the occupied members. Finally, this study indicates the vulnerability of certain households having remittances. The disappearance of these incomes, following to the death of the beneficiary is going to lead inevitably to the sudden deterioration of the standard of living of these households which don’t have any alternative way to face this shock.(Full text in french)
