Los conceptos, las variables y la medición en la investigación social cuantitativa

Abstract

Con objeto de fundamentar adecuadamente el proceso de operacionalización de conceptos complejos y multidimensionales como el de competitividad para el bienestar, este documento de trabajo revisa la literatura de la metodología de la ciencia, en lo relativo a conceptos, variables y medición en la investigación cuantitativa en ciencias sociales. Con ello se persigue evitar las ambigüedades terminológicas y conceptuales, las falacias ecologistas o reduccionistas, las inadecuadas modelizaciones de las relaciones entre conceptos pertenecientes tanto a distintos niveles como a un mismo nivel del marco analítico, y las erróneas operaciones lógico-matemáticas y estadísticas con variables, que con frecuencia se encuentran en la literatura del bienestar y el desarrollo sostenible, por un insuficiente conocimiento de las enseñanzas de la metodología de la ciencias a este respecto.
