L'intégration des Portugais du Luxembourg

Abstract

La présente recherche vise à décrire la manière dont s’opère le processus d’intégration des Portugais du Luxembourg. Pour ce faire, nous commençons par réaliser un examen synthétique de la littérature sociologique en matière d’intégration. Une fois le cadre conceptuel posé, nous mesurons et mettons en relation deux dimensions essentielles de l’intégration : l’insertion socioéconomique et l’acculturation. Pour terminer, nous confrontons la population portugaise qui réside au Luxembourg à celle qui réside au Portugal afin de mettre en évidence le degré d’acculturation des immigrés portugais et de leur descendance avec la société luxembourgeoise. Cette recherche a nécessité l’usage des données luxembourgeoises de l’European Values Study (EVS) de 2008 puisque nous mesurons l’acculturation à partir de questions portant sur les valeurs des individus. Nous montrons que comparativement à leurs parents, les descendants d’immigrés portugais, compte tenu du milieu social dont ils sont issus, connaissent une mobilité sociale ascendante associée au développement d’une identité culturelle « hybride », constituée de valeurs situées entre le pays de naissance de leurs parents et le Luxembourg.
