Employment, real wages and external constraint: the case of Brazil and Chile

Working paper, economic analysis of the impact of economic policy responses to external debt on employment and wages in Brazil and Chile - discusses trends in minimum wages, unemployment and underemployment; reviews the economic implications and social implications of reduced consumer demand, export promotion, import substitution, devaluation and export of capital. Graphs, references, statistical tables.
