Abstract

Working paper examining interaction between poverty and population dynamics in the Bihar rural area, India - summarizes current mortality, fertility, migration, family size and household characteristics; examines bivariate associations between poverty (land ownership, consumer expenditure, housing, nutrition, health, etc.) and demographic variables (children mortality, fertility, family planning, etc.); presents multivariate models of demographic behaviour and causes of poverty. References, statistical tables.
