Abstract

Working paper on agrarian structure changes in the plantation economy, comprising case studies of Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras and Jamaica - examines the social implications and economic implications of changes over time in land ownership, land utilization patterns, foreign investment, public investment, commercialization, exports, employment and productivity, working conditions of plantation workers, management structures, etc. Bibliography, graphs, statistical tables.
