Rural labour market in varhad: a case study of agricultural labourers in rain-fed agriculture in India

Abstract

Working paper based on a case study of conditions of employment among agricultural workers in commercial farming in the rain FED region of Varhad, India - notes on-going labour surplus and stagnating agricultural production with a trend towards proletarianization; regrets failure to develop adequate agricultural technology adapted to agroclimatic conditions; points out negative impact of contract farming on agricultural income, etc. Graphs, maps, references, statistical tables.
