Abstract

Working paper on the impact of technological change in the clothing industry, esp. In developing countries - examines obstacles to computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing in assembly line work, incl. Materials handling difficulties; explains how low labour costs contribute to international market competitiveness; analyses the scope for Innovation and structural change through joint private investment and government policy in OECD countries and other developed countries.
