Rural households headed by women: a priority concern for development

Abstract

Report on female headed households in rural areas of developing countries, based on a literature survey. Covers family size and composition, marital status of women, trends in family support patterns due to the effects of divorce, polygamy, land ownership, income generating activities and the exodus of male migrant workers; outlines research needs. Includes tables and bibliography.
