Abstract

Working paper on the effects of petroleum exports and agrarian reform on rural area labour markets in the 1970s in Ecuador - discusses agrarian structure, land tenure, absorption of family labour in family farms and agricultural employment across farm size categories, rural migration of peasant farmers and the landless, rural worker wage structure, income distribution, impact of inflation and declining export earnings on migrant worker employment opportunities, etc.; stresses the need for land reform. Bibliography.
