Abstract

Working paper on construction industry issues and trends after 1977 in Sri Lanka - examines the structure, private sector and public sector investment, employment, construction worker wages, labour productivity, building material imports, obstacles to growth and the impact of industrial policies, and includes measures to reduce dependency on foreign expertise and construction techniques such as long term planning, industry-specific training and revision of contracting procedures, etc. References.
