Los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio (ODM) en América Latina: Más Allá de los Promedios

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es mostrar la importancia que tiene el uso de información desagregada para dar seguimiento a la agenda que define los Objetivos de desarrollo del Milenio (ODM). Se deduce que los ODM ofrecen una oportunidad para avanzar con propuestas que contribuyan a reducir la desigualdad de oportunidades que caracteriza a los países de América Latina. A partir de una revisión de los indicadores disponibles, se concluye que la identificación de prioridades de política pública, pasa por el reconocimiento de la desigualdad al interior de cada país, con el uso de información estadística desagregada por área de residencia, género, raza/etnia y nivel de ingresos.
