Vergleichende Analyse von Länderarbeitsmärkten : Länderstudie Hessen

Abstract

Mit dem Projekt 'Vergleichende Analyse von Länderarbeitsmärkten' (VALA) untersucht das IAB die regionalen Unterschiede in der Beschäftigungsentwicklung in den deutschen Bundesländern für den Zeitraum zwischen 1993 und 2001. Die Ergebnisse für Hessen zeigen, dass das Bundesland im Beobachtungszeitraum mit einem Beschäftigungsverlust von durchschnittlilch 0,19 % pro Jahr konfrontiert war. Hessen liegt damit im westdeutschen Durchschnitt. Nur in Bayern und im Saarland hat sich die Beschäftigung positiv entwickelt. Die Entwicklung in Hessen ist vor allem durch den Dienstleistungssektor geprägt, der besonders im Rhein-Main-Gebiet positive Impulse setzt. Außerdem hat dieses Gebiet ein großes Potenzial an Arbeitskräften und eine gute Infrastruktur. In den ländlich geprägten Regionen Nord-Ost-Hessens gibt es zwar ein relativ geringes Lohnniveau und eine für die Beschäftigung förderliche Betriebsgrößenstruktur, für ein Beschäftigungswachstum sind diese Faktoren allein aber nicht ausreichend.
