Abstract

"On average, women earn less than men. Surprisingly, little attention has been paid to the role of the gender-specific application behavior. However, detailed establishment data suggest that men and women apply for jobs with different characteristics, even within narrowly defined occupations. The difference in the application behavior can explain a significant part of the earnings gap." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
