Abstract

"This representative survey of 8,000 businesses shows that about 40 per cent of all businesses and administrations felt they had been affected by the economic crisis, 7 per cent declared that they were at existential risk. All economic branches were affected by the economic downturn and, as expected, industry was worst hit. The enterprises took various measures to avoid dismissals or closures: among others, freezes on hiring, short-time work, wage cuts, and reorganisation. Through this, it proved possible to stabilize overall employment despite the crisis." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
