Abstract

The concept of self-ownership found itself only recently at the core of the debate surrounding the philosophical groundings of economic theories of social justice. This article aims to analyze Serge-Christophe Kolm's original position as outlined in his Macrojustice [2005] regarding this key concept. Dismemberment of self-ownership is one of Kolm's major theoretical propositions, both in itself and in terms of the conceptualization of income distribution and of equalization of the individual freedom of choice.
