Abstract

Los años 80 fueron testigo de profundos cambios en América Latina. La mayor parte de los países de la región sufrieron grandes transformaciones durante la llamada década perdida, tanto desde el punto de vista político, con procesos de transición democrática, como desde el punto de vista económico con vastos programas de liberalización y apertura de sus economías. Desde el punto de vista social, la crisis del petróleo y la crisis de la deuda, provocaron un espectacular progreso de la pobreza y de las desigualdades.
