Formation professionnelle à la française : vers un nouveau « vocationalisme » ?

Abstract

Dans les vingt dernières années, le système français de formation professionnelle initiale et continue a connu de profonds changements. L'hypothèse générale de ce texte est celle d'une évolution du modèle éducatif français qui, sans rompre la dépendance de sentier à la convention « méritocratique », présente cependant des innovations convergentes permettant de parler d'un nouveau « vocationalisme » en émergence. On présente d'abord les débats et hypothèses autour du nouveau vocationalisme puis l'évolution de la structure et de la production du système de formation initiale et celle du système de formation continue, les problème de construction et de valeur des certifications et enfin la question des rendements de la formation professionnelle. La conclusion synthétise les tendances et contre-tendances au nouveau vocationalisme et formule quelques scénarios pour le futur.
