Abstract

This research report, carried out as part of the EcoAfrica project, presents the results of a survey conducted in late 2018 among 405 randomly selected farms in the Highlands zone of the Vakinankaratra region. In the first part, it provides information on the level of adoption of innovations disseminated over the past two decades, on the place of women in decision-making, and on farmers' perceptions of climate change. In the second part it characterizes the zone's farms with quantitative data on production factors and livelihoods. It presents the performance of farms in their agricultural and livestock production activities. Finally, it presents overall incomes (agricultural and non-agricultural) and their composition, and compares them with the updated poverty line and the minimum wage (SMIG).
