Abstract

The 18th workshop of the Réseau des Jeunes Chercheurs sur le Foncier (RJCF), which took place in Avignon on December 12th, focused on financing systems for new rental housing in France. The first part of the workshop looked at the household buy-to-let tax expenditure schemes, which have become an important mechanism for financing the private rental sector in recent years. The second part of the workshop considered the potential resurgence of institutional investors in the French housing sector. The second part of the workshop looked at the potential re-emergence of institutional investors in the French housing sector. Although expected and advocated by both public and private experts for several years, this anticipated revival seems to have hit a roadblock with the recent increase in interest rates.
