Quel type de maillage pour les ports territoriaux pour quels niveaux de performances ? Le cas du conteneur

Abstract

The combination of port congestion, due in large part to the increasing size of ships, and the reduction in the number of ports call, is opening up opportunities for the creation and development of networks bringing together Major Sea Ports (GPMs), regional ports, land transport operators and shippers. The first prerequisite for the success of this type of network is the digitalisation and interoperability of maritime-port and supply chain information systems. The second condition is a paradigm shift in terms of the economic model, moving from a growth strategy to one of coordination and cohesion of flows that are dispersed rather than concentrated in a small number of ports. We propose a shift from an economic model based on economies of scale to one based on the economics of scope, characterised by the processing of flows with different rotations by means of common transport systems. Finally, we will identify the performance levels required for these territorial ports for this type of network to be efficient.
