Abstract

Résumé Cet article est une revue de la littérature sur les déterminants du choix d'adaptation des agriculteurs en Afrique subsaharienne. De nombreuses études ont souligné l'existence d'inégalités en matière d'adaptation à l'échelle des exploitations agricoles suggérant de s'intéresser à ses déterminants micro. Maddison (2007) souligne l'importance de la perception du changement agricole dans le processus d'adaptation. Paradoxalement, une littérature récente montre que les ménages agricoles ont une bonne perception du changement climatique mais s'engagent relativement peu dans les stratégies d'adaptation même lorsque les ressources financières ou institutionnelles ne sont pas contraignantes. Ce paradoxe suggère que les croyances, enclines à se développer dans les contextes incertains, occupent une place importante dans le choix d'adaptation. La spécificité des croyances des ménages agricoles sub-sahariens doit être considérée dans les politiques visant à développer l'adaptation.
