Abstract

French SMEs find it difficult to export and remain sustainable in this activity. France therefore lacks sufficiently large and innovative SMEs to take full advantage of export markets. The German and Italian examples have shown that cooperation between competing companies can help to overcome the difficulties encountered which are a critical size, or informational and financial problems in the face of global competition. The concept of cooperative ecosystem seems to be suitable as a solution to undertake international business initiatives for small businesses, which constitute the majority of the French SMEs find it difficult to export and remain sustainable in this activity. The concept of coopetitive ecosystem differs from that of cluster since it designates a heterogeneous coalition of companies from different sectors and forming a strategic community of interests structured in a network around one or more leading companies. In this type of network, companies maintain relations of cooperation and competition without constraint of sectoral and / or territorial membership.
