Matériau social et matériau de gestion : une expérience de pensée sur les difficultés du manager et du chercheur en gestion

Abstract

Le présent travail propose une expérience de pensée : considérer les représentations de gestion comme un matériau (le matériau de gestion), la difficulté à manager comme une résistance de ce matériau et les sciences de gestion comme tentative d'établir une science de ce matériau. Le potentiel et les limites d'une telle « science » sont envisagés en considérant le matériau de gestion par différence et filiation avec le matériau social des sociologues ayant pris les organisations (entreprises, laboratoires, projets…) pour objet d'étude. Les sociologies de Bourdieu, Crozier, Boltanski et Latour sont abordées successivement comme grille d'explication des possibilités et impasses d'une étude managériale des organisations. Lire le matériau de gestion comme une forme dégradée plutôt du matériau social est une voie particulière de retour réflexif sur la discipline des sciences de gestion en vue de gagner en pertinence et légitimité.
