Abstract

Climate change triggers a great number of studies to clarify the issue, its potential economic consequences, and the actions to be considered to mitigate the speed of the change. Strangely, little is done to tackle a vital and immediate issue: if severe events are to be more extreme and more frequent – mega- and repeated- hurricanes, droughts, wild-fires, heat waves and cold waves, public health issues, etc. – how our societies are going to weather those big shocks? The goal of this paper is to launch a preliminary analysis of the issue.
