Abstract

L'interdépendance croissante des économies, le rôle dominant des mouvements de capitaux sur la scène économique internationale et la montée des déséquilibres commerciaux, imposent une coordination des politiques économiques des pays de l'OCDE. La théorie des jeux confirme d'ailleurs que, pour un grand nombre de situations, les solutions coopératives sont préférables à l'absence de coordination entre les pays. Catherine Mathieu et Henri Sterdyniak présentent ici les principaux éléments du débat concernant la nécessité et les modalités de la coopération économique. S'appuyant plus particulièrement sur l'expérience du système monétaire européen, ils analysent les perspectives de la coordination des politiques économiques ouvertes par le rapport Delors sur l'Union économique et monétaire (UEM).
