Abstract

This text raises three questions relating to climate policies. The first and the second concern the implementation of climate policies. The first is related to the background to the reflection. 1t echoes a general and imperfectly understood issue: the interference between climate policies and the rate of extraction of fossil fuels, known as the green paradox. The second is more contingent. 1t is linked directly to a current issue: the European market for carbon credits, and in particular the question of the good use of a free initial allocation of carbon credits. The third question is more fundamental and comes before the others. 1t goes back to the justifications for climate policies. Are they answerable to standard economic calculation, which, as we know, tends to crush the distant future? Here we discuss the foundations of ecological economic calculation.
