Abstract

Toulouse s'affiche aujourd'hui comme l'une des aires urbaines les plus dynamiques de France. Chef-lieu de l'Occitanie et capitale européenne de l'aéronautique, elle possède une forte identité héritée d'une longue histoire s'étalant sur 2 000 ans. Toulouse fut succesivement une ville romaine active, puis la capitale des royaumes wisigothique et aquitain, avant de devenir celle du Languedoc et du pastel. Cette nouvelle édition rassemble les meilleurs spécialistes du cheminement de Toulouse à travers les siècles. Elle aborde chronologiquement les temps forts mais aussi les crises de la cité. Des chapitres plus thématiques analysent les caractéristiques majeures de la ville de Nougaro : l'université, la médecine, les arts et l'architecture, l'aéronautique et le spatial. La conclusion étoffée par Jean-Marc OLIVIER et Rémy PECH offre un regard sur les perspectives urbanistiques et politiques de la métropole toulousaine.
