Abstract

Économiste suédois de renommée internationale dans l'entre-deux-guerres, Gustave Cassel (1866-1945) est resté associé à la doctrine de la « parité pouvoir d'achat ». Cet article se consacre à l'étude de l'éclatement de l'Union monétaire scandinave, qui se produit par étapes entre 1916 et 1924, et nourrit la réflexion de Cassel. Cassel développe une critique de la monétisation des déficits publics, mais aussi des économistes souhaitant rétablir un étalon-or aux parités d'avant-guerre.
