How to Succeed a Post-Downsizing Large-Scale Economic Recovery?

Abstract

In the face of economic crises, recourse to the "Job saving plan" is frequent but not very conclusive, either on the social or economic level. Through the study of an intervention-research conducted in a SME, this chapter shows that the external environment alone does not explain the economic difficulties of companies and that a large part of socio-economic performance is played out internally. This case study also shows how a proactive strategy, focused on hidden costs-performance, is the "foundation" of a deep and sustainable restructuring, and enables a large-scale economic recovery.
