Abstract

This article aims to present the challenges of Business Intelligence (BI), a popular discipline since the end of the 20th century. It refers to all the technologies for collecting, centralizing and processing data to assist decision-makers in their strategic decisions. The work presented here is a synthesis of the author's final thesis as part of the R2IE's « Jeunes pousses » project. This exploratory work focuses on the place of BI tools in the research and communication sector, and first compiles the historiography of the subject of Business Intelligence. A first theoretical axis goes back over the history of BI, its global functioning and its key concepts. A second axis will illustrate the introduction of these technologies applied to the communication sector with the help of a concrete case within a consulting institute. The analysis of the obstacles encountered is then presented.
