Abstract

This presentation outlines the overall positioning of the project and demonstrates how the experimental "residential cost" module tested in the EMC² surveys of Grenoble (2019-2020) and Clermont-Ferrand (2022-2023) can provide statistical tools for the concept of residential cost, which integrates household expenses for mobility and housing. It presents the definition of this concept and the economic, social, and environmental issues it can shed light on, before discussing the limitations of the current statistical framework in determining the joint expenses of housing and mobility for the same household and the trade-offs they may make between the two. It then briefly mentions some initial results on residential cost before concluding with the potential of EMC² surveys as a statistical working approach.
