Abstract

Regulation theory has contributed to the development of heuristic approaches in economic geography to address the transformation of production systems, the internationalisation of finance and the amplification of real estate investment in post-Fordist regimes. In return, this work has enriched the weakly spacialized approach of the School of Regulation by contributing to a theorization of the unequal development of territories. These fruitful exchanges could be strength-ened if the RT took into account the rise of the mesoscale of ur-ban regions, and considered more generally the plurality of scales of action. Geographers could also contribute to a reflection on the growing centrality of real estate in the (de)growth dynamics of contemporary capitalism, a finding that a heterodox theory could no longer ignore.
