Abstract

Ce chapitre est consacré à la mise en perspective du cadre philosophique pragmatiste de John Dewey par rapport à l'économie et à la discipline économique, en explorant le thème des relations entre le positif et le normatif. Les autrices montrent qu'aux trois niveaux ontologique, épistémologique et méthodologique, le cadre pragmatiste remet en cause de façon originale la séparation traditionnelle en économie entre le positif et le normatif pour privilégier leur articulation. Sur cette base, les autrices distinguent l'instrumentalisme de Dewey, auquel la méthodologie de l'économie positive est parfois rattachée, de celui de Milton Friedman.
