Abstract

Public policies promote the mobility of researchers: by attaching it to notions of excellence, attractiveness or competitiveness, it appears valued as such. Yet, the mechanisms through which mobility would enable the circulation and production of knowledge lack theoretical justification and empirical demonstration. We propose to question the consequences of researcher mobility, in articulation with the place of collaborations, considering that the latter allow the knowledge exchanged through mobility to become productive. An analysis grid allows us to identify and describe different configurations of articulation between mobility and collaborations, which have heterogeneous effects in terms of circulation and production of knowledge. These results allow public policies to be discussed, all the more so in a health context where mobility behaviors have been in decline.
