Abstract

Ce dossier thématique de Management international vise à mieux comprendre le rôle que joue aujourd'hui l'économie sociale dans les pays de l'Union euro-péenne (UE) et notamment à saisir la nature et l'ampleur des transformations que le secteur a connues depuis le début de la crise de 2008. Depuis cette date, les États-membres comme les instances européennes ont cherché à développer \guillemotleft l'économie sociale \guillemotright \textemdash d'autres formulations plus adaptées aux différents pays concernés sont possibles \textemdash en considérant qu'elle était un moyen de créer ou de sauvegarder des emplois, en particulier pour des populations vulnérables. Dotée d'une histoire plus ou moins longue et riche selon les contextes nationaux, l'économie sociale ne saurait pourtant être réduite à ce seul objectif, puisqu'elle a aussi vocation à contribuer à un développement économique soutenable, à lutter contre les discriminations, à favoriser l'insertion des personnes handicapées et à intervenir dans des secteurs d'activité aussi différents que la culture, l'éducation, ou encore la santé
