La modernisation technologique des entreprises françaises : une pertinence stable et limitée

Abstract

Le marché des technologies numériques est porteur de multiples promesses et doit par là même bénéficier à l'ensemble des entreprises françaises. Peu d'études en Sciences Humaines et Sociales (SHS) se sont toutefois attachées à évaluer l'effectivité de ces promesses en examinant concrètement où en est actuellement la numérisation des organisations. Cet article vise à combler ce manque. Nous montrons plus exactement comment la diffusion des technologies numériques au sein des entreprises françaises fait, en 2016, l'objet d'une bipolarisation qui a une histoire ancienne. Nous verrons ainsi que cette bipolarisation s'explique par des facteurs structurels et, dans une moindre mesure, par des facteurs sectoriels puisque que ce sont principalement les grandes entreprises et celles du secteur de l'information et de la communication qui animent, depuis près de deux décennies, le marché des technologies numériques. Nous soutenons en ce sens que la vague de numérisation que connaissent les acteurs économiques depuis 2010 recouvre une structure de pertinence à la fois stable dans le temps et limitée socialement.
