Abstract

Dans le domaine de la haute technologie informatique, en arriver à une adéquation entre l'offre et la demande n'est pas une chose aisée. Historiquement, les grands constructeurs ont imposé leur loi aux entreprises. De nos jours, un renversement total de tendance poussent ces dernières à réduire ostensiblement la taille de leurs équipements informatiques. De très nombreuses entreprises se lancent ainsi, et souvent de façon inconsidérée, dans des opérations de "downsizing" sauvage. Seule une démarche approfondie et bilatérale, constructeur-client, mettant de l'avant les besoins du client et non les machines en tant que telles, constitue une solution équilibrée d'aménagement optimal du système d'information de l'entreprise : c'est le "rightsizing".
